After being played early house tapes from the famous Ark in Leeds Neil decided he wanted to be a DJ and at 14, after buying his first set of decks (belt-drive of course) and a bunch of records that’s what he set out to do.
Looking back it has been a bumpy ride through numerous genres and styles, and now after many years perfecting his art Neil likes to play a range of sounds; electro, techno, breaks, glitch hop, downtempo and drum ‘n’ bass, and he takes great enjoyment from mixing up the various styles he has gathered and collected over the years. Although he likes to “mix it up” Techno is the path that Neil has chosen to follow and it is with this ever evolving sound that he will continue to push boundaries and thrust his way ever forward into new musical soundscapes.
n 2005 Neil, felt his mixing needed something more than just Technics, CDJ1000’s and a mixer. So he took the plunge and started to use Ableton Live, a move which has paid off as he is finally mixing the way he’s always wanted to… 8 channels of stomping techno. Now the DJing is sorted Neil has started to get into the production side of things, there’s a few rough sketches down already, look out for fresh material in the near future…
Neil is joint owner and A+R of the Digital Distortions label along with his good friend and sometimes mixing partner Bushby.
